Make Your Own Art

Most people think that art only comes from true professionals, but that’s not at all true! Making art is about a creative expression, and we all have creative energy that is just waiting to be used. You can use art to express your emotions or record a specific time in your life. However, you want to do it, the best thing you can do is just give it a try.

The first think you need to do is pick your medium. If you have a camera, start by taking it around with you every day and taking pictures of things that make you smile. Maybe an old couple on a bench or a pretty flower. Start by using the automatic mode, but eventually be brave enough to adjust the settings on your own and learn as you go. You can then use a photo editor to add adjustments to the images. You can also pick up an inexpensive set of water color paints or colored pencils. Create an image that already exists and try to get in all the details.

If you didn’t unearth your genius in the first attempt, don’t give up. Keep practicing, because as fun as making art is, it can also be therapeutic.

Making art can even be a group activity! Plan a wine and paint night with some of your best friends, or turn family game night into family art-making night.

Then, once you have created something you are really proud of, put it in a frame and hang it up in your office or home. It doesn’t need to be something other people will buy, just something that makes you smile.

So, give art a shot. You never know what you can create!
